Tape Exchange November 2021

AHHHHHHH,

Can it be!? Are we actually doing it?! Normally, we have no intention of keeping the promises we make, but this time…. It looks like we’re right on track! We’re dusting off the cobwebs on this ol’ Exchange (although we do have a few permanent ones in our brain!)

To give you a recap of November, it was awesome! Our record label Oak Honest Records had it’s first label showcase! Acts from our label and from the New England area all threw down and celebrated this beautiful project together. Our very own Michael James Anderson, O’K and the Night Crew, and Riley Lucifer all released some material in that time. Check it out on our label catalog playlist on Spotify!

Now, let’s get on with the tape related nonsense!

Raddest Tape:

November’s raddest tape is this feel-good, femme fatale of an entry! Present are Joni Mitchell, Beck, Velvet Underground, Talking Heads, Jonathan Richman, The Clash, and many obscure treasures! It’s lo-fi, it’s hi-fi, and a highly creative assembly! Creatures of The Alternative should send in a tape in hopes of receiving this sick puppy in return!

CTEP’s Contribution:

If there’s ever been a constant with the tapes they we provide, it’s that they are insane. Not in an over the top, trying to hard, I’m sooo weird kind of way. No, it’s almost sensible, and then it fakes you out. Seemingly unrelated tracks create a sort of theme or an overall feel. Maybe its because we don’t make these tapes. They make themselves! Cool song? Jot it down. Song on the radio is hittin’ just right? Find it online! Before you know it, we’ve got an hour’s worth and another mix comes to life. November’s tape has some brand new material mixed in with classic favorites as well as other gems both hidden and familiar.
